The benefits of Extra-Virgin Olive Oil

Galen – the Greek doctor who is considered the father of medicine and who lived in the 2nd Century A.D – had already pointed out some healing properties belonging to the olive oil due to its use against stomach ache.
Dioscoride thought that it was particularly suitable for the preparation of the ointments and for the stomach care. In the past other uses of the olive oils were linked to beauty treatments against scalp withering, dandruff and hair loss.

Later on it was employed for treating arthritis, gout and rheumatism in general. Nowadays the scientists recognize the good qualities and the virtues of the olive oil, although they consider it a healthy food rather than a possible ingredient for medicinal substances.
For all practical purposes it is considered a natural defence for the prevention of diseases in the digestive system, bone ageing, cardiovascular diseases, arteriosclerosis and some kinds of cancers.
